Artist's Description
Ferry Beach is across the Nonesuch River from Scarborough's Fishing Pier and runs parallel to the channel that empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It is a long, sandy beach facing west which was quite opportune for me this early May evening. This was the second of two consecutive dazzling sunset experienced during my three days in Scarborough, Maine. Both nights the water and the winds were very calm.
This is a two exposure image. The water was photographed with a 10-stop neutral density filter to smooth out the ripples made by the current and provide the ethereal glow on the water's surface. From the shoreline up is a normal exposure to freeze the motion of the boats as much as possible in a low light environment. They were blended in Photoshop to produce this image.
